Zozimus & Stony Pockets
Zozimus, the blind bard, has gone down in Dublin folklore as a legendary figure. Here he's brought brilliantly to life by Bernard and Ben from the Liberties Heritage Project, in the area of his birth.

More about this story
Numerous stories abound about Zozimus. For example it's told he was often feuding with a certain policeman with the number 184b. His fantastic poems denouncing 184b became so famous they drew fresh crowds, eager to seek out the unlucky policeman. He became an odd tourist attraction. According to Frank Hopkins - "Wherever 184B went he was followed by crowds of Dubliners who would hurl abuse at him and laugh at his every move. Eventually his position became untenable and he was removed from the force. For many years afterwards no other constable would wear the number of 184B for fear of receiving the same treatment" (Hopkins, Hidden Dublin) Zozimus also gives his name to Gallery Zozimus - a beautiful little art gallery off Francis St.
