The Apparitions
Critically Acclaimed author Kevin Barry tells a witty and imaginative tale of a series of apparitions across Dublin, that bring the old writers of the city crashing into the lives of modern Dubliners. Kevin, originally from Limerick, is currently based in Sligo. His first novel, City of Bohane, was recently shortlisted for the 2013 Impac Literary Award.
More about Kevin Barry
Born in Limerick (where he claims to be the first man ever to drink a cappucino there), Kevin Barry now resides in Sligo. A self-confessed email addict, often seen sporting funky hats, Kevin is Ireland's most celebrated new author - winning the Rooney prize in 2007, and shortlisted for the Impac award in 2013. He has published two collections of stories - 'There are little kingdoms', and 'Dark Lies the Island' - as well as the novel 'City of Bohane'. The New York Times review described it as “an extraordinary first novel” that was “full of marvels . . . marvels of language, invention, surprise. Savage brutality is here, but so is laughter. And humanity. And the abiding ache of tragedy."
